Quest-relay / relay / key-chain

← Craft Glossary · Structure & Story

Plain English: A story shape where each scene is a baton-pass. The hero ARRIVES at a node, hits an OBSTACLE, READS the puzzle, pays a COST, gets a KEY, and HANDS OFF to the next node. The "key-chain" is the unbroken sequence of those keys — each scene must hand the next one something it needs, so the story can't stall.

In this project: The spine of RELIC. The continuity gate hard-fails if the key-chain is broken (a scene that takes a key it was never handed, or hands off nothing).
