Plain English: Sentence-by-sentence craft (not correctness): rhythm, word choice, voice, clarity, imagery, cutting flab, killing clichés and filter words, varying cadence, sharpening specificity. The art-level pass.

Rule: Read for the ear; cut what doesn't earn its place; protect earned voice (the keep_if guard — don't sand a deliberate roughness into smooth nothing). This is the rung the de-llm-loop and cold read operate on.

Fail: Over-sanding to a uniform "correct" smoothness — which is itself the evenness machine- tell. A line edit can create AI-flavor if it homogenizes.
