Gravitas (inflation) / evenness of register

Plain English: Gravitas = weight, seriousness. Gravitas inflation is the habit of making every moment sound profound and grand — so nothing is allowed to be plain. The result is evenness of register: a flat, uniformly "important" tone that's actually one of the deepest machine tells.
